I came across a question being asked by Dr. Sharon, my
psychology lecturer recently highlighting about who is your idol, or in other
words, who has crossed your mind, who started world revolution of difference,
change in society as well as religious, cultural perceptions etc.
Of course, the only idol who I think of is myself. But yeah,
you don’t say it out loud yet unless being to be accepted with the option
people laugh as if to them you’re telling a joke. Because psychology class is
awesome. You were being taught on how to maintain relationships (kinda like a
marriage guide conference) then all the sudden learning about Hilter’s mental
influence and prestigious to have his soldiers killing millions of innocent
people without guilt.
But seriously, back to the question,
Who is your idol?
Within a class of 50 I dare to say less than 15 are Muslims.
People start speaking out their idols.
“Who inspires you?”
Taylor Swift! Barack Obama! Mahathir!
Your heart and mind stays silent. Are those my idols?
Prophet Muhammad comes up to the mind. But stays silent.
“Who, to you has changed the human world revolution?”
Vince Lombardi! Thomas Jefferson! Steve Jobs!
Your heart and mind starts to wonder. No, they aren’t much
who have contributed to the human revolution.
Muhammad. Muhammad. Muhammad. It’s sticking on your head.
“Who has made the change to cultural and religious views?”
Marina Mahathir!  Mother Teresa!
You have to think of an idol pronto. There’s only one name
stuck on your head but you aren’t ready to say it out loud yet. Most of these
people aren’t Muslims.
Muhammad. Muhammad. The prophet keeps running through your
head.
“Okay people, any more idols? “
Speak it out. speak it out you don’t need to wait for a
muslim guy to say on behalf of you go-
Prophet Muhammad!
Non-muslim lecturer shouts out Prophet Muhammad back again
in the class. Your heart is at ease.
Finally.
You, as a muslim feel guilty when you know the Messenger of
Allah, Muhammad (p.b.u.h) has all the characteristics be it leadership skills,
attitude of a successful human be it dunia and akhirat’, the thinking beyond
human ethics and most importantly, the one who is meant to exist in order to
guide you reach through the destination of heaven itself.
He is simply perfect. No flaws in any ways to put into a
real reason of putting someone else who is from today’s existence being on top
of him certainly. As a muslim, especially when you are a teenager yourself, it’s
hard to be religious. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t continue to
keep moving forward on changing yourself to a better version of a Muslim.
If you are waiting for the right time to even talk about
Islam –such as when you’re fully covered, reads the Quran’ twice a day, prays
at the mosque every day if possible and attains a high distinction for Islamic
Studies in university.
Waiting for that moment to be a religious you at the ‘right’
time won’t exist. There will never be a right time. If your intention is to
remind yourself to go to the right path might as well let the others know what
you’re thinking and has the urge to do the same. It’s better to consult and
bring people on the right track once you are trying to do it yourself.
Similar to the case of admitting Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) is
your idol in front of a crowd consisting various of religious practitioners
with confidence.

Because tho you only apply some of his sunnah’s instead of
every single one of them, you would always quietly sit in the room reading
about his biography, his life, all over again getting to know him and his decisions
based on history itself.
Without really getting bored if your intention is purely
based on his life rather than memorizing for the examinations.
It’s hard to remember someone important who you never met in
real life. But if you really go visit his tomb in Madinah Al-Munarrawah, surely
you’ll sense he is still very much alive, acknowledging your presence and
prayers for him to Allah.
As a Muslim you should be proud you can tell the world who
your idol is, and really, is there a better person with all specialties who
can beat Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h)?
And while I was thinking of all this during class right
after volunteering to say it out loud for Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) , someone
at my back shouted
Justin Bieber’s my idol yo!
