A Chance to Grow

Give people a chance to grow. It's always been about highlighting people's flaws in life. Social media has taught us the ability to judge someone harshly or in better words, to be a keyboard warrior. We start to forget being empathic in understanding the victim's feelings and sometimes, it is taken lightly whenever they show signs of depression due to cyber bullying.

There are 3 factors our society (not all) tends to neglect and are taken lightly.

The Implementation of Free Speech
Youth Development
Personal Inner Change

It's true that we are given a platform such as Facebook, Twitter etc to express our agreement or disagreement towards an aspect. You think you can speak out harsh words to someone, you think you can support your stands just by bringing down another. It gives you a sense of pride, to show verbal signs of aggression without considering to be neutral to the situation. No, it's not about politics, it's the little things like seeing people post how happy they are etc. Sometimes words can harm the heart of others -even if you are using 'free speech'. If you have no constructive criticism, it's better to stay silent or say positive things to another.

There's a bigger choice on deciding whether people's views on you matter more, compared to your own favouritism towards an aspect you are currently applying.

When it comes about youth, it's mostly about the bad ones. Young generations are lazy, are clumsy, are never independent, too stubborn etc. I remembered during class learning TITAS (Tamadun Islam dan Tamadun Asia Tenggara), the lecturer highlighted briefly on how our youth minds are changing with the current evolution of our society. Our egoism, our general knowledge and perception are changing. Our behaviours are either getting better with time, or worse. And I really respect him for his views towards our young generation, to stay positive and try to look on the good parts of life.

We keep neglecting the capabilities people are having individually be it talents in sports, business managing, leadership, film making, photography etc. There's a huge prospect in discovering each and one of our talents but once we find it, never ever loose grip of it just because it is taken lightly by others. Don't loose grip of your confident personality just because an older generation thinks it is much better to stick to their way of thinking. It's never about disagreeing to disrespect elder and more experienced people, but it's about to have people for once, try to see the world in a new perspective.

And it's been a normality in our younger generation to search for that sense of belonging. Our perspectives are evolved around our environment of how we were raised, the culture background and the vulnerability of the country handling youth on education.

I think it's time for people to accept the generation is changing and we are all finding the best outcomes for ourselves and contribute to the society.

Lastly, on personal inner change. I think you are going to agree on this with me, that change is more happening when you are inspired rather than criticised. You need a 'drive' to create such motivation to change to be better. Reality is people -even the bad ones in your eyes, do want to be better. I stumbled into this entry where this 'muslimah' she openly bashed other muslim women with 'why are you like this?' 'change please, don't you feel ashamed?' 'you have no mind at all' etc. Yet, she herself had explained she has been 'bad' before. We hardly give inspirational stories on what made us change to be better, rather we judge people as if we had never been in their position before.

In a wrap, if we have no knowledge or lacking of understanding, it's not a reason to make others feel bad about themselves through our judgements, comments or even ideas. Old or young, experienced or immature, without respect and manners will only represent yourself wrongly in the eyes of others.

In the end as a community, love and support is all we need in bringing the best for ourselves and the future :D
