Careful on the Road Girls

Hey there,

Last week there was one fine evening I’ve gotten back home from a family gathering. It was nearly 6 and I was pretty tired after the long journey home. I didn’t feel like sleeping, so I decided to go driving –yes, I drive whenever I feel like filling up the boredom or tiredness.

I mean, what’s a better feeling than to drive listening to your favourite music when you’re in no mood of human contact? But of course nowhere far and under parental awareness.

Cornered left from the junction to only suddenly see a red Myvi from the back through the rearview mirror.

My house residences don’t have a red myvi, I thought.

Drove within a 500 metres and still, the car is behind my back. Curious to know if maybe I’m being followed, I pressed the pedal and drove faster. I keep my eyes shifting looking forward and the Myvi.

The faster I drove, the closer it keeps coming.

I headed to my grandparent’s house instead so I took another corner, and believe me, the road I was in now is only leading to those who live in that residence. It’s impossible if the car wasn’t following me, to actually drive on the same road.

That Myvi took the corner and still, behind my back.

Great. Being followed.

Turned the music on a little higher, made sure my car doors are perfectly locked, hid my bag under the seat and drove faster.

You see, only those who have a residence sticker can pass through. (There was one time I forgot to paste in my car and the guard made me wait for 20 minutes to check my IC, call my grandparent’s house and all)

As I passed through the entering area, I stopped and turned my back to look at the Myvi. Just like I thought, it turned back once the guard stood by the road. There was no way that car can pass through.

Whoever that person is, surely he thinks I’m that dumb.

It’s only been like less than a month I’ve gotten my license but things like this happens. And I’ll be expecting more.

So girls, let me tell you something when it comes to your safety on the road.

Believe You Can Drive Efficiently

It’s perfectly normal to have people showing doubts on either you can drive well or might crash into something within days. I’ll be happy to let you know that if you don’t believe in yourself that you’re not like those girls who drive recklessly or too slow or perhaps causing rage just because you parked wrong, then no one will believe you can do it.

This common sentence is always ‘Hmph! No wonder, the driver’s a girl’.

Cliché’ statement right?

Do you wanna be another representative of those type of girls? Well I don’t. Neither should you.

So the main aspect on building confidence in driving is put away all those stuff you hear –the negative feedbacks from male drivers especially when they see a girl drive. Let them be, only those with a low mentality would judge a specific gender on an aspect.

Girl, be that difference.

Be Aware of Other Cars Around

Before I could drive I always thought, ‘okay, when you can drive, make sure you’re the one who is careful’. Reality is when you’re on the highway, and even though you are comfortable with yourself driving the car, trust me, this one thing you’ll realize is

Any car can hit mine right now.

That’s why they say, be caution of every single car you’re dealing with cause’ your safety isn’t based on you yourself, but also from others. And you can’t do anything to make sure a car won’t bump into yours during high speed.

That’s the use of praying for safety and I have to say, you can die in a car accident, anytime. Be ready when that time comes.

The only step of caution you can do under your control is always have your eyes change shifts looking through side mirrors, rearview mirror and front. If you see a car’s distance which is seemingly too close with yours, go change another lane.

And try your best to avoid driving behind a truck or any other heavy gigantic vehicles.

Use Your Intelligence

Even as a girl, to my very own perception I think if I was ever a stranger in need of car robbing, my victim should more likely be a girl rather than a guy. It’s easy cause girls are weak physically –fighting back or etc. I admit that myself.

But who said girls are stupid?

Let’s apply the word ‘caution’ before ‘cure’ on this one aite?

Find alternatives and instant acts when you’re involved in a dangerous situation. You know you’re not a master in martial arts, so take your smart brains as the solution here.

You know what to do, no need to say here J

Take Care of Your Car’s Hygiene

When I was little I used to laugh at my neighbour seeing him washing his car every weekend to only have it back dirty due to dirt and rain.

Like, haha what’s the use doing that anyway?

But little did I know, the more you take care of your car’s hygiene, the more you’ll be careful on driving. Cause as much as you love yourself to avoid accidents, you love your car as well.

I never let anyone else clean my car. I would spend hours without clinging with my phone, the internet or a book to just scrub and vacuum the car. It’s like you create this bond and you’re never gonna let the car have scratches or etc.

It’s a great feeling to maintain it clean all the time. But I do admit I get super clingy when people starts to have the mat dirty or brings in food and spill it on the seat. Worse, have it shine and then forgot you left the car in the rain.

*Heartbreak there*

To be honest there was one time this thought hit me.

‘A reason why I prefer cleaning my own car is because I believe the owner will give the best performance on maintaining a car. So, if I were to have a child, I will have doubts on hiring a maid to raise him/her cause I believe I’ll do better on that.’

Laugh out loud please. Hahaha me and my silly thoughts.

By conclusion, whatever it is, to have a reassurance on your safety being on the road, believe in yourself that you’re not a reckless driver, have your eyes opened for any cases of cars that might hit yours, apply your intelligence on self-safety and lastly, love your car.

All the best girls :)
